Vicky obtained her Master’s degree from St. Andrews University in Scotland in the year of 2014. She then came back to Taiwan in the hopes of landing a job at an international company. After submitting 100 resumes, she was only offered 30 interviews; and out of all the companies that interviewed her, none of them offered her a position. In 2015, she decided to lower her bar and took a job offer from a small company. During the first two months, everything went well. However, the company decided to fire her in the third month. Their decision for firing her was that they thought she was not creative, and didn’t have experience in managing clients.
In 2016, Vicky started working as an English tutor. During this time, she began to think very deeply about what she wanted in life. She took what she learned from her work and taught herself to think critically. She worked very hard and there was a period of time when she would tutor 20 students per week. Later on, she worked at CyberLink for a year and a half and she started to have a strong desire to work abroad. She submitted her resume to companies in Singapore and Hong Kong and was offered interviews. Unfortunately, she was told by the companies that they couldn’t hire her because she couldn’t speak 7 different languages.
So how did Vicky get a job offer from the luxury brand, Louise Vuitton? After many previous interview experiences, she knew how to prepare well for a job interview. She also knew the right questions to ask that can help her get an edge when communicating with people from the human resources department. Vicky credited her success to her hard work and preparation.
Starting from 2019, Vicky wanted to share her experiences and ideas with people. She became a writer and began writing blogs. She also gave speeches and English workshops to spread her knowledge and beliefs.
Looking back, her experiences working as a data analyst, English tutor, and influencer helped sharpen her skills in logical thinking, practical knowledge, and self-expression. She concluded her journey with the quote, “The life seems like a puzzle, you’ll never know how it looks like until the end.” She wanted the audience to know that even if something doesn’t make sense at the moment, don’t stop and don’t give up. Vicky believes that one’s ability is more important than one’s degree. She ended the speech with a quote from Ray Dalio “Successful people are those who can go above themselves to see things objectively and manage those things to shape change.”
她以「The life seems like a puzzle, you’ll never know how it looks like until the end」這句名言來總結自己的經歷。 最後,她以雷・達里奧 (Ray Dalio) 的語錄為她的分享劃下句點:「Successful people are those who can go above themselves to see things objectively and manage those things to shape change」。
